Australia Music Festivals 2015

Australia is a country packed with rich culture. Whether exploring the Aboriginal history or diving into the extensive art to be found in the cities, this is a country that puts a lot of importance on bringing its history and its culture to both the natives and the tourists. Here, you can find writer’s festivals, cultural celebrations and, most importantly, a whole variety of Australian music festivals. And music festivals are a big part of that. Australia has, undoubtedly, some of the most incredible venues in the world. The Esplanade has been around since 1868, and is a recognized historical site as well as being one of the most iconic music venues in the country. Totally original and with a sterling reputation for live music, The Espy (as it’s locally known) is a drinking den of the highest order. The Metro Theatre in Sydney offers music every night of the week (and a reasonably priced bar to boot), while the Oxford Art Factory in the same city offers hangouts for hipsters, soundtracked by up-and-coming pop and hip-hop acts. And the festivals aren’t any different- often held in the glorious Australian countryside, they take advantage of beautiful weather and stunning scenery to give every festival that relaxed summer feel. There’s a wide variety of music on display at music festivals in Australia, so you’ll find something to suit your taste whatever’s on your iPod. Its jazz and blues festivals are held in particular esteem, and it’s definitely worth checking out Jazz in the Vines- which brings together great wine, great food, and great jazz in a vineyard-even if you’re not a fan of the genre. But if you want something a little bit more contemporary, Big Day Out will offer everything you could possibly want. Languishing in the middle of the summer heat at the start of the year, the festival takes place across a number of cities and venues and brings a wide collection of rock and indie acts to an audience of thousands. And for those in the mood for something more traditional, WOMAdelaide is for you. A clash of traditional and world music, arts, and culture, it’s a festival that will give tourists and locals alike a taste of both native and international lifestyles. Basically, Australia is the place to be this summer if you want a little taste of everything. And who could say no to that?
