About This Festival
Established in 1854, the Iowa State Fair is the largest annual event in Iowa and one of the oldest state fairs in the US. Traditionally held in August, it celebrates the best of Iowa's agriculture, industry and entertainment. Roughly 600 exhibitors and vendors offer food and other merchandise. The Fair boasts hundreds of rides, exhibits, demonstrations and shows. The Fair opens every year with a parade featuring 200 floats, vehicles, animals and performers.
