The National Puppetry Festival is sponsored every two years by the Puppeteers of America. It is a week-long event filled with puppet performances, exhibits and workshops that celebrate puppets and those who work with them. Hundreds of puppeteers from all over the world attend, including famous puppeteers like Carroll Spinney, creator of Big Bird. The festival includes creative puppet workshops for children and panel discussions on topics such as the use of puppetry in therapy.
