About Festivals, Craft Shows and Fairs in Montana

The Treasure State delivers plenty of promise, with big and beautiful open spaces bursting with greenery, pine-fresh air and breath taking views. It instils and invigorates, endowing a sense of adventure a desire to do. It also offers many attractions and events, including an annual program of fun and funky festivals.

Browning’s North American Indian Days, with a history of over 60 years, aims to educate and entertain by bringing together the history and culture of Native American people. For four days, tribes from every corner of the US and Canada offer music, food, dancing, games, giveaways, prizes, kids’ entertainment and lots more, with plenty of traditional entertainment. It’s an excellent way to learn, have fun and engage in the native heritage and spirit of the USA and its people.

Montana Folk Festival, held each year in Butte, is one of the Northwest’s largest free outdoor music festivals, and features over 200 performances of music and dance. It’s suitable for all the family, and the focus is firmly on generating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Over six stages, regional and national musicians strum, stomp and fiddle their way through three merry days of music. There are also market stalls, where you can get your hands on local crafts, and loads of food vendors to amply fill your hungry belly. These food vendors include a range of ethnic specialities in addition to traditional festival fayre.

Montana’s Cowboy Poetry Gathering offers something slightly different, though still with a very traditional twist. This four-day festival explores and celebrates the history and customs of cowboy culture through poetry, song and music, with a variety of diverse styles and genres. The award-winning event also offers workshops, dances, conversations, panels, historical context and loads more.

Cowboy fans might also enjoy the Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede, a three-day event with lots of rodeo, riding and other cowboy capers and competitions. The event also features themed races, bullfighting and lots of special guests. Throw on your hat, bring your lasso, lace up your boots and come along!

Montana also offers festivals in film, food, drink and more, with some very specific events centred around things as unique as sheep, skiing, Scandinavia, huckleberries, General Custer and loads more. So whatever tickles your pickle, Montana truly does have a chest of treasures. Come along and unlock it!
