About This Festival

A village festival in Eversley that will engage the public in the celebration of Charles Kingsley’s life and work. Music, talks, beautiful Hampshire countryside

There is a rich seam of cultural heritage lying within the boundary of the small Hampshire village of Eversley. Our most famous resident, Charles Kingsley (1819-1875), was one of the foremost thinkers of his age, contributing original ideas to a broad array of topics: literature, theology, politics, sanitation, science and others.
Events:
Andromeda: a revival of this lost choral work based on Kingsley's poem of the legend; with giant puppet figures, performed in the open on the Mount - Kingsley's special writing spot.
A new play #realCharlesKingsley takes Kingsley head-on with his critics, friends and passions.
Talks by leading historians, academics and politicians who discuss Kingsley's extraordinarily active life, work and passions.
Visitors to Eversley - a presentation of the famous people who visited Kingsley in the mid-1800's. Harriet Beecher Stowe and Emma, Queen of the Sandwich Islands were among them.
