Several Fairfax events are held annually in Virginia's historic city. The year kicks off with the two-day Chocolate Lover's Festival in February, usually held before Valentine's Day. Festival goers can sample a wide variety of chocolate confections in old town and tour historic buildings. In spring, enjoy one of the Fairfax music festivals, Derby-Q, which features live blues music and borubon and beer tastings. In the summer, Rock the Block offers live music concerts every fourth Friday in Old Town Square. Food trucks are available and kids can cool off in the splash pad.
Other festivals in Fairfax include Fido Fest (a celebration of pets), an Independence Day parade and fireworks display, a holiday craft show, and a festival of lights and carols at Christmastime. The city holds an annual mother/son campout and a father/daughter dance as well. One of the town's biggest events is the Fall Festival, which includes carnival rides, live music, crafts, food, and children's activities.
