About Festivals, Craft Shows and Fairs in Hawaii

Hawaii is the archetypal image of paradise. It’s a word synonymous with long golden beaches, rugged volcanoes and gorgeous coral reefs. The natural beauty of the USA’s newest state is known across the globe, and it’s a place to visit for waterfalls, cliffs, surfing and a surfeit of adventures. But when you’re not running on adrenaline and seeking massive thrills, there is also a thriving, varied and exciting festival scene to take your breath away.

To get a real slice of the Hawaiian spirit, Aloha Festivals is where you want to be. Throughout the entire state, lots of events and activities take place to honour and promote the unique and charming culture, customs and traditions of Hawaii and its people. Over 100,000 people attend these festivals, which include parties, live entertainment, performances, food, drink, ceremonies and more. If you’ve ever fancied learning about and indulging in the traditional side of Hawaii, you’ll be right at home. Bring your Hula skirt and have some fun!

Hawaii Film Festivals is one of the biggest and most prestigious movie festivals in the entire world, so it’s a perfect chance to gaze lovingly upon some delights of the silver screen. Since 1981, the event has been delivering some of the very best features, shorts and documentaries, with around 150 flicks shown each year. Programming is largely dedicated to Asian and Hawaiian filmmakers and films, and showcases lots of unusual and unique films alongside premieres and special screenings. The event is supported by the huge and influential film critic Roger Ebert, and previous screenings here have included classics like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Y Tu Mama Tambien and The Piano. The festival also features workshops, seminars and discussions.

If you prefer feasts to films, then Hawaii Food & Wine Festival will be more your succulent style. Here, you can gobble, nibble and gorge on the food and drinks of over 100 chefs and food and drink producers. The festival celebrates the local food of farmers, fishermen and cultivators, and features a program of many world-famous chefs. There are tastings, conversations, competitions, classes and more. If it dances upon your taste buds, you’ll find it here.

Hawaii also has a range of events dedicated to music, arts, exercise, books, coffee and loads more. So don your Hawaiian shirt, grab a cocktail, soak up the chilled-out atmosphere and come join the party!
