August and September are the main season for festivals in Reno. Scheduling can vary a bit from year to year, but the season usually kicks off with Hot August Nights around the first week of August. This is one of the world's largest classic car shows, with about 800,000 people attending to take in drag races, "show n' shine" exhibitions and parades of vintage vehicles over the course of the event.
The Reno events keep rolling into September. Reno is the primary stopover point for pilgrims going to and coming from Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert, which usually begins in late August. Each September Reno is also host to the Great Reno Balloon Race, the Reno Championship Air Races and the Street Vibrations motorcycle celebration. Street Vibrations also usually has a smaller spring rally that takes place in June.
Reno music festivals include the Great Eldorado BBQ Brews and Blues Festival, which usually takes place in June, and the Reno-Tahoe Music Festival, which is usually held on an August weekend at the Hawkins Outdoor Ampitheater. The Off Beat Music Festival, which will combine music with art and food from local restaurants, is also scheduled to hold its first installment in early November of 2015.
