The Jazz Festival Djangofolllies commemorates every year the anniversary of Django Reinhardt (23/01/1910), the famous gypsy jazz guitarist from Belgium who created a new jazz style on his own: the Gypsy Swing! Django Reinhardt was the first European musical virtuoso to influence American jazz. Regarded as the jazz guitar’s most dazzling soloist, most exciting improviser and most important innovator, he succeeded in joining the ranks of the few indisputable giants of jazz: Armstrong, Ellington, Charlie Parker and Art Tatum. The concerts take place in many different venues all over Belgium.
