The Twelfth Night Celebration of the Boar's Head/Yule Log Festival at United Reformed Church of Somerville is a joint effort of Bernardsville United Methodist Church, Peapack Reformed Church and United Reformed Church of Somerville. We offer this celebration free to the community as a witness of our faith in Christ, whose birth brings hope to the world. Rooted deep in pagan times when the boar was the first dish served at a Roman feast, the colorful ceremony of the boar's head became a service of praise to the Lord of the Universe. Come and revel in the celebration of the Twelve days of Christmas as they did in Elizabethan times. You will see our sanctuary transformed into a English manor as a 140 member cast dressed in Elizabethan and Biblical costumes will present vocal and instrumental music including hand bells, bag pipes, drums, organ, brass quintet, and flute.
Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no charge for admission, however a free-will offering will be appreciated.
