About Festivals, Craft Shows and Fairs in Texas

Throughout the year, the Lone Star state has a huge selection of events and festivals to reflect its size and stature. It’s got a big heart, a big mass, big cities and big attractions. The state has rural charm, smiling faces, gorgeous plains and a wealth of food… and when you’re not indulging in these, the festival scene is sure to keep you busy, with a practical plethora of options and oddities.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival is a big six-week festival of lancing, knights and other medieval chicanery, with countless performances, attractions, games, demonstrations, shops, stores and events. There are over twenty stages and more than 200 acts along with fun ranging from jousting to comedy to swordplay. You can also expect a lip-smacking selection of themed food (along with non-themed food for those with more discerning palates). It’s an exciting and educational celebration of all things medieval and it’s fun for all the family… just don’t get hung, drawn and quartered!

Texas State Fair is another large-scale event, and harks back to the glory days of old-school state fairs, with roots dating back to the 1880s. It’s chock-full of fairground rides, carnival foods, sideshows, creative arts, a car show, the tallest Ferris Wheel in North America and almost a month of family entertainment. There’s also music, performances and plenty of entertainment alongside the obligatory livestock. It’s the sort of event your grandmother always told you about – go along and see why!

Dallas Blooms is one of the biggest floral displays in the whole of North America. If you’re a green-fingered flora friend, you won’t find anything to better tickle your fancy. With hundreds of thousands of plants, bulbs, trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials, you’ll be more than able to get your fix. You can buy, learn, study and see, and all with the added bonus of arts, crafts, food and entertainment. If there’s anywhere to get your flowery fill, this is it.

Savor Dallas is renowned as the biggest food and wine festival in the whole state, and offers great local, regional, national and international treats to whet your appetite and wet your lips. It’s a drool-fest of epic proportions, with hundreds of tasty treats and tipples, dozens of top-notch chefs and plenty of reasons to unloosen your belt.
